Blog4- Stress: a multifactorial problem and individual.



Stress has changed enormously throughout history. Civilizations have created new pressures to test the ability to survive. Often people are confronted continually with situations that excite the body unconsciously, storing energy that then not used. All people are very sensitive to suffer failures, penalties or situations that make us feel uncomfortable, it also makes us uncomfortable when we can not control the consequences to be an action or another, in all these instances we feel''stressed'', but what Is Stress?

''Stress is the automatic and natural response of our body to the situations that are threatening or challenging. Our life and our environment, constantly changing, requires us to continually adjusted, so a certain amount of stress (activation) is necessary.'' It is for this reason that all people react differently to different stress situations. Therefore, each reaction to stressful events is different in each individual. The physical pressure can build up and eventually can lead to exhaustion and disease. Since stress is the organic standard response to a threat of danger. The body prepares to defend himself or escape, enables and promotes adaptation in situations of change, this does not cause any problem as long as it does not become a chronic condition. Chronic stress is a state of permanent alarm that can produce organic functional impairment, illness and even death.

Stress builds up through emotions such as aggression, impatience, anger, anxiety and fear, emotions that trigger the body's reaction to stress. An unhealthy diet, the snuff, alcohol and drugs also can help increase physical stress. etc. For all this, is that no specific symptoms of stress for all the world, but these can vary from one person to another, but can identify some common symptoms that may show signs facing a stressful situation:
* Emotions: anxiety, irritability, fear, mood fluctuation, confusion or embarrassment.
* Thoughts: excessive self-criticism, difficulty concentrating and making decisions, forgetfulness, worry about the future, repetitive thoughts, excessive fear of failure.
* Behavior: stuttering or other speech difficulties, crying, impulsiveness, nervous laughter, the other rough treatment, teeth grinding or clenching, increased use of snuff, alcohol and other drugs, increased susceptibility to accidents, increase or decreased appetite.
* Physical changes: tight muscles, cold or sweaty hands, headaches, back or neck problems, sleep disturbances, upset stomach, flu and infections, fatigue, shortness of breath or palpitations, tremors, dry mouth.


Stress can arise from situations at work, at home, in relationships, may be the result of internal emotional conflicts, environment, diet, ill health, economic hardship and certain important situations in the a human life: births, deaths, marriage or divorce. For this causes can be classified into physiological, psychological, social, environmental.


Tips to prevent stress:
Keeping the body hydrated, getting enough sleep, physical activity, walking, sport, recognize the critical, please avoid the world, understanding and tolerance, Adapting the environment, measure capacities, Unlock tasks, respect the motivations, self-esteem Safeguard , Focus on the objectives, activities Allow time for relaxation, reading, singing, cooking, movies, music, water plants, play with your pet, take a bath, not abuse with shopping malls, home Order , etc.

Determine how many people suffer from stress today is very difficult but if you know that is common today in Chile the incidence of women with stress is 62.30% and 43.90% are men, which shows that in our role as a professional we will meet daily with people with stress, to which we must be able to provide the necessary confidence and respond in a more patient for that problem may not be very big for us but for the user will sometimes a matter of life or death.
